Canyonville, Oregon

So we've travelled a bit since my last post. First, a short segway from our vacation for a business trip and a chance for me to work with women I really admire, along with a chance for Steve to have a really nice evening with a friend in Sunnyvale.

Sunday Morning we headed for Shasta Lake. The photo is a tanker we followed up route 17 toward the I-5. You can see our rig in the reflection. Pictures don't do it justice, though!

At Shasta Lake we stayed in a Forest Service Campground right on the Lake. It was quite beautiful, but over 100 degrees, and we were worrying about trailer break problems (see earlier post about wheel bearings), so unfortunately have no pictures. This morning we drove back into Redding, 100 degrees again, and had two of the four trailer brakes repaired. While they were working on the breaks we went to see Shasta Dam and watched perky Huell Howser star in a very perky and not terribly captivating video about the dam.

Back on the road again, we drove 100 miles north of Medford to Canyonville where there is a casino and a campground that had been recommended to us.

We arrived about 8PM, exhausted, and had a delicious PB & J dinner. The good news is that the campground is very lovely. The bad news is that one of the wheels is making that noise that bearings make when they're not happy. See earlier posts about trailer wheel bearings and brakes. We've decided to worry about it tomorrow. Maybe I'll go to the casino or read by book by the pool while Steve gets the brakes fixed (just kidding). We're in a lovely spot right by the dog run. Doogie has already made a bunch of friends here, so he's happy.

I haven't had time to play with the format of my blog, and will definitely do so. For now, I'm just going to load up the pictures and see what happens.
